With constant operation, the fashion industry creates many pressures. Besides, always having to maintain creativity sometimes makes us exhausted and fall into a "burnout" state. However, if we know how to adjust and balance work as well as mental & physical health, we can limit this situation.
WHERE DOES "FASHION BURNOUT" COME FROM?
Like many other industries, fashion is also an environment with many pressures from within. The constant need to maintain creativity, the same mentality of "embracing the new," or the implicit competition for unique ideas causes many people to fall into burnout. In addition, the state of burnout in fashion also comes from the physical side: outsourcing, tailoring, and pattern making ( My body was in pain all week after the final day of school).
ADJUSTING 'FASHION TARGET'
"Burnout" often occurs when we set too many goals and expectations, thinking we can "handle" everything. Everyone has strong and weak skills, so being perfect is almost impossible. Fashion skills also need to be prioritized, so determining our capabilities and setting reasonable goals will help us not be overwhelmed and exhausted by the workload.
LIMITING WHATEVER MAKE US EXHAUSTED
Sometimes, it's not necessarily the heavy workload that leads to burnout, but when exposed to too many negative/moody things, we can also become mentally exhausted. Most fashion people have different energies - personalities, sometimes opposing each other. Therefore, during burnout, we can temporarily be introverted or change the creative space to change the mood.
IMPROVING THE "FEAR OF BEING OLD"
The fear of being old and outdated is sometimes why many people find ways to squeeze out their work to "make an impression" and get ahead. This seems to be an invisible race in the psyche. It's good always to renew yourself, but you should balance and appreciate the "old" because many breakthrough ideas are developed from past materials. Understanding that no one can stay at the top forever because of always having the next generation inherit creativity.
SIMPLIFY LIFESTYLE & CREATIVE THINKING
When we gradually feel tired and distracted by the things around us, simplifying everything will help us become light. A closed lifestyle and only keeping quality relationships with you, or the change to neutral, minimalist outfits, partly makes you feel lighter and more relaxed. The moderation, streamlining creative style, and fashion thinking also mark each individual's transformation.
FASHION INDUSTRY HAS MORE OPPORTUNITIES THAN WE THOUGHT
We often worry about "missing the opportunity" and trying to do everything until finding yourselves burnout. Practice refusing and carefully consider the "scope of work" if you feel you are gradually exhausted because I believe each individual will always have a "stage" in the fashion industry. The opportunity in the future will not be lost when you have given your best to it. Learn to calm down and rest for a specific time; your endurance will go further.
